Iridium is one of the platinum group metals. It is inert in contact with molten glass. Historically, its stiffness and resistance to deformation rendered its fabrication difficult. Using its expertise, Johnson Matthey has optimised the metallurgical properties of this metal and can routinely process Iridium into complex forms. A wide range of crucible diameters and heights are produced. Even seamless designs are offered. Technical support is available on demand.
All crucibles can be refined to recover the precious metal.
